Visitor screenings, restrictions and entrance changes due to COVID-19

Effective Friday, March 20, we will be implementing hospital visitor restrictions and entrance changes in accordance with the most recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease) recommendations. To ensure the health and safety of our patients, their families and our team members, these visitor restrictions and entrance changes apply at Madison Health:

Visitor Restrictions

  • Emergency Department and Hospitalized patients – Visitors are no longer allowed.
  • Birthing Center patients – One support person allowed during the duration of their stay.
  • No visitors under 18 years of age.

There are some exceptions, including:

  • End-of-life situations
  • Minor patients age 18 or under may have two visitors, but this is limited to only parents or guardians.
  • Individuals with significant physical disabilities may have one support person in addition to a visitor.

Visitor Screening

  • All visitors to Madison Health will be screened for symptoms and travel/exposure history.
  • The screening will be performed by hospital staff at the Emergency Department and Park Avenue Medical Building entrances, and will include a temperature check and a series of questions.
  • Once cleared, the visitor will receive a green sticker, indicating that he/she is permitted to enter the facility. This sticker will need to be removed upon leaving.

Entrance Changes

  • Birthing Center entrance – Closed until further notice
  • Main entrance – Closed until further notice
  • Emergency Department entrance (facing Park Avenue) – Open 24/7. Visitor screening will take place at this entrance.
  • Park Avenue Medical Building entrance – Open during normal operating hours. Visitor screening will take place at this entrance.

The following Madison Health facilities are also closed until further notice:

  • Wellness Center (located in the Park Avenue Medical Building)
  • G.C. Diner (still operational for patient care and team member carry-out orders)

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to protect the health and safety of everyone at Madison Health and the communities we serve.
